Hey all! I’m coming to you live from the Military Influencer Conference in Orlando, FL. This conference gathers hundreds of military members, spouses, and veterans from across the world to talk about the businesses and brands we are building. But I know most of you don’t really care about that, so let’s talk about what may interest you.
Useful blog posts!
The thing I am most looking forward to at this conference is meeting some of my fellow military community bloggers. Specifically, there are seven people that I’ve been waiting to meet – some for years! And while you can’t all be here to meet them too, I can introduce you to them virtually. So here are my favorite blog posts from these seven bloggers.

Everything About The Survivor Benefit Plan
Why I like it: the SBP is supremely misunderstood, and Kate is my go-to person for correct information on it. She has done tons of research on this program, which is good because it’s not super easy to get information from the military. If you think you will retire from the military, this is a must read!
Christine at Her Money Moves
My Favorite Hotels Where Dogs Stay Free!
Why I like it: if you follow me on social media, you’ve probably figured out that I like dogs. My dog is an important part of my life. When we are PCSing, it can be a bit of a hassle to find places to stay. I love that Christine put together this list of places that will let him stay for FREE!

How I Turned $80k In Military Education Benefits Into $2.1 Million In Lifetime Value
Why I like it: when you are looking at military compensation, I think it’s important to consider all of the benefits we get, not just the number on your tax return. Our education benefits are HUGE. If you haven’t looked into how to maximize them, this post gives some good ideas to get you started.
Stephanie at Poppin’ Smoke
Quickstart Guide to Military Space-A Flights
Why I like it: Stephanie is my military travel guru. As a Space-A virgin, I’m a bit intimidated by the process. I’ve heard horror stories! Stephanie has so much information about the process, and this guide has a lot of information and imbedded links to help you through it.

How To Find Portable Careers For Military Spouses
Why I like it: the stats on military spouses who are unemployed/underemployed (just looking at those that want to work) are staggering. I know tons of MilSpouses that want a career, but it’s hard to make it happen when you move every couple of years. Finding a career that isn’t location dependent can make a huge difference between a military family with happy, fulfilled spouses (and a more financially secure one…) and a family that really struggles.
Ryan at The Military Wallet
Veterans Service Organization for Benefits Claims Assistance, Career Guidance, and More
Why I like it: I admittedly don’t know much about life as a separated/retired veteran. Luckily, Ryan has tons of information about it on his site. This post outlines several of the most important organizations that can help veterans get the benefits they’ve earned.
Richard at Rich On Money
Real Estate Mistakes Military Members Should Avoid
Why I like it: I’ve shared this link before but I’m not going to stop. This post is so important in breaking down what military families need to consider before buying a house. Otherwise, you may end up being one of the people crying over the money flooding out of your wallet every month while comforting yourself with the thought that in 15-30 years, things will be better.
That’s all for now. I’ll be updating the world on what I learn from MIC throughout the conference via social media. If you don’t follow me, you can find my Facebook page here, my Facebook group here, and on Twitter @Military_Dollar.
