I have been doing some trip planning lately, which means travel hacking has been on my brain! So I wanted to share a few posts that go along with that theme.
Mad FIentist Card Ratings Tool
Mad FIentist
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this tool before, and it deserves some attention.
People who are card churning often ask which card should be next in their lineup. This tool helps you decide exactly that. You can select the airlines, hotels, and card companies you want to focus on and it will tell you what the current offers are from each of them. Then you can compare those offers against your goals to see which card would be best.
For instance, I need a hotel for 5 nights in October. I’m leaning towards getting a Hilton card to earn the points to pay for that stay. The hotel stay is for a trip to Disney World, so I’m also looking at the Chase Disney cards. I’m weighing the benefits of the various Hilton and Disney cards to decide what I should get next.
It’s not a perfect tool because it doesn’t include every card available. But if you are having trouble narrowing down your options, this is a great way to do that.
7 Travel Hacking Myths
Notorious D.E.B.T – April 26, 2018
This post discusses some of the myths surrounding travel hacking – both the ones that sound great, and the ones that make travel hacking seem hard. I know I personally didn’t get involved in travel hacking for years because it sounded like a pain. It’s really not nearly as bad as I thought! It can be difficult if your schedule isn’t too flexible (like mine) but it’s worth it when you get your parents a $921 luxury hotel room for FREE!
The Top Ten Free Things To Do On The Big Island Of Hawaii
Tread Lightly Retire Early – May 14, 2018
While I’m thinking about travel, I obviously need to think about Hawaii. Somehow I still haven’t made it to Hawaii! I have good friends that live in a couple places among the islands, and yet I haven’t gotten out there yet. I need to fix that.
In the meantime, I enjoyed Angela’s review of some free things to do when you get to the Big Island. Everybody knows Hawaii isn’t cheap, so it’s nice to have this list of places to go when you want to stop spending money for a few hours.
And maybe I just don’t know enough about Hawaii, but there are hot springs???

Okay, I think I need to head over to the Mad FIentist site because I’m definitely in the analysis paralysis stage of what’s next for us. Probably doesn’t help that we haven’t decided where we are going yet either 😉 And thanks for including me today!

You’re welcome, friend! Yeah, I’m definitely focused on the next card right now. I gotta choose!
