You Don’t Need To Love Math To Love Finance
Smile & Conquer – October 11, 2017
If you are the person who reads personal finance blogs grudgingly because you know it’s important but darn it, you just don’t want to think about the numbers, this post is for you.
I admit I don’t fall into this category. I love messing around with numbers. Not complicated math, but just simple addition/subtraction/multiplication/division type stuff. But I know that many people aren’t like that. I know a few people who would rather lose money than think about a budget.
The good news is, much of personal finance isn’t about math, per se. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know that most of my posts don’t include a single equation. There are bloggers out there who are all about the equations and if you follow them, you can learn some amazing optimization tricks. But higher level math isn’t necessary for the majority of personal finance.
FI Action Series: Where Are You Today?
Apathy Ends – October 12, 2017
This week, Apathy Ends started a new FI Action Series to help readers prepare for Financial Independence. This is the first step in the series – figuring out where you are.
Okay, okay, I know that the first post I recommended talks about not needing to love math. But you do have to talk about numbers sometimes. This post has you gathering all of your basic numbers – income, debt, and savings/investments – to start the process. Simple! I plan to follow along with this series. Will you?
Reader Suggestions On How To Have A Frugal Halloween
Frugalwoods – October 13, 2017
It’s almost Halloween! Woohoo!
Mrs. Frugalwoods compiled this list of suggestions on how to save money on your Halloween. If the thought of spending $40 on candy and $100 on kid’s costumes annoys you, check this out. I tend to keep my expenses around $15-$25 – one jumbo bag of premium candy from Costco ($14) plus if I find something I like, I’ll buy the following year’s costume at the post-Halloween sales.
And even if you don’t care about or need to save money on Halloween expenditures, check it out for the hilarious dog photos!
Speaking of…here’s one of my favorite canine a few years ago. I’m not normally one to put animals in clothing, but Halloween is an exception. This costume is hilarious when he’s running towards you.
